I don't mind dishing out extra for 2012 if I need to.

But I definitely want to get 2013 to have the latest update before my exam.

What do you guys recommend? Should I buy 2012 for until 2013 comes out or would 2011 be good enough?

Again, its only $30 in the big picture and I have absolutely no problem buying 2012 if that is what is recommended.

Thanks everyone 🙂

2012 has color images. That alone is probably worth the $30 imo. Especially if you haven't even looked at the 2011 version yet, now would be a good time to upgrade.

However, I doubt you will get much, if any, change in the text though between 2011 and 2013.

Just keep the 2011.

The only thing I would suggest is whenever you run into a friend that has a newer one, borrow and annotate in any new drugs added.

I'm using a 2010 right now, and I don't think its a hindrance to not have the latest and most update version aside from the drugs. Plus, I wouldn't like waiting for the errata to come out, which w/ first aid there always is a ton of errors.

Definitely get 2012. You'll need the time to correct all its mistakes. :meanie:

But seriously, if there's one thing I could do differently throughout second and first year it's getting familiar with first aid, and having it ready to go before starting board prep. I've had to spend too much time making corrections, annotating in missing information, and even taping in better quality diagrams, tables, and images.

dont upgrade the fa. get kaplan medessentials as well. those 2 together are a great combination

I'd say keep your version and annotate/correct it heavily. When you switch to 2013 and recopy all your annotations it will stick much more. I did something similar and it worked out fine.

In my experience, there were generally more formatting than content changes between versions. If you annotate with HY class notes, you'll capture the majority of content updates anyway.
