Hi,
I need some advice on how to measure blood pressure by ascultation on a StimMan. I have no problem getting an accurate reading on real people. However, on a StimMan, I cannot hear anything! Is there something you have to do on a StimMan vs real people? Anyone have any tips? My exam will be done using a StimMan.

Which part of the process are you having trouble? The brachial artery, pulse from the radial artery, hearing the kortakoff sound etc? Need more details in where you are failing. The stimMan are fickle on your placements of the steth.

Thanks GangaMaster! I am having trouble hearing the Korotkoff sounds. I can feel the pulse but don't hear the Korotkoff sounds at all.

Watch some more youtube videos on Korotkoff sounds and then practice more on catching them on the stimman is your best bet.

Unfortunately, I won't have access to a StimMan before my exam. Do you have to press harder on the stetescope on the StimMan? I can easily hear the Korotkoff sounds on real patients. Not sure why they are so hard to hear on a StimMan
