Brainwash!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Here's a video from a recent defector from the Scientology hegemony (despite the fact that she still calls herself a scientologist).

Amazing she still calls herself a scientologist. Clearly some sort of brainwashing going on. I think people like her are victims. Its unfortunate.

I don't think it's out of the ordinary for her to continue to call herself a scientologist.

There clearly are several examples in history of people who sincerely believe in a philosophy, dogma, or religion, and idiots running the organization that's supposed to represent that belief run it into the ground.

There are several conservatives who hate the GOP, Catholics who hate the Vatican, Trek fans who think Berman and Braga (the last producers) ran the show into the ground.

Scientology, while IMHO a religion based on bogus tenets, well I can see several people seeing some good out it's belief core. Any religion, even one where the founder formed it on a desire to make money, could be based on some good philosophies.

One thing I've found interesting is whenever someone protests against the Church of Scientology, the Church often times gives out a response pretty much on the order of finger pointing..."She must be bitter", "she is a liar", etc.

In other words, that is the normal response to criticism from a former member of any group, whether you're talking about a church, a political party, a YMCA, any employer whatsoever - including the response from my last employer about me. How many times have you heard the term "disgruntled former employee?" And who's to say that the disgruntled former member is telling the truth?

Far be it from me to defend the Church of Scientology, but we can't assume the source here is flawless.
