Ok, so I wasnt into school as an undergrad etc etc. had many other interests, not even "bad" things like drinking etc, was painting, writing music and just generally not a hardcore student. I went to Cornell and figured that might help me out someday, but nope. I didnt know all the time and planning the premed students put into their future from the time theyre juniors in high school, I just did not know and now I am sufficed to say screwed from attending a US med school. My UG gpa was a 2.6 and change.

Im doing a postbac now and getting a 4.0, after its over ill have about 60 credits at a 4.0 or maybe slightly lower. With a good score on the MCAT which I am confident I can get, I will still have little to no chance at a US allopathic school. Sooooo, my question is....With a 30+ on the MCAT and my gpa raised up a bit to around a 3.0 from my post-bac will I be able to get into one of the 4 caribbean schools, Ross, Saba, St Georges or AUA?

I dont care about goin there for an MD because I know that I am an intelligent, capable etc person and after being licensed as a physician, just as qualified as the next doctor. I figure instead of trying year after year at applying to US med schools and maybe getting in somewhere after numerous attempts, Id rather go to the caribbean and get my degree sooner than later.

Any suggestions and is anyone in the same position?

With a SMP, you would likely be a competitive candidate for US MD programs. Id advise that over Carib.

You could go Carib no problem but if you have a 60 hour post-bac 4.0 and a 32+ MCAT you have a good shot at US schools (as long as the other stuff like clinical volunteer experience, LORs, etc...) are in line. As long as you get that overall gpa back to a 3.0 you should be OK. Do some research too and you will have a better shot.

No S#&t....My original plan was to take my prereqs, ace them and then take another 30 or so credit hours in biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, immunology etc.

Score well on the MCAT, 32 and above (I know everyone says that they can do that etc, but I really do feel that I can 🙂)

On my resume already I have 100 hours volunteering in the emergency room at a reputable hospital-North Shore in Manhasset, an interviewer of home bound patients for a study on improving health care for these patients who are either home bound or recovering from procedures (ran by VNSNY), Im trying to become an EMT at my post-bac university(Stony Brook, they have a hospital adjoined to the campus) I have a good LOR from my anatomy and physiology prof at Cornell (shes a doctor, went to Columbia-need more LORs though). I have also tutored chemistry, and participated in a breast cancer walk, multiple sclerosis walk volunteer setting tables up etc and participated in a few events as part of the Team In Training in raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society (did a triathalon and a 100 mile bike ride-wasnt sure if I should put that on my resume). I also plan on doing more in the coming years.

So the consensus is that I would have a "good shot" at getting into a US MD school? You know where Im coming from right? If its gonna take me forever and quite possibly never yield any acceptances Id much rather go caribbean and get it over with. The other poster suggested an SMP. Would I be able to get into one? and what kind of work does an SMP involve? one year or intense basic sciences alongside medical students is what I recall.

Thanks everyone

I would say if you raised your GPA above 3.0 and got a 32+ MCAT you should get into some SMPs. A program like EVMS would be ideal for you.
