i was wondering if we have the option of taking a five min break between the blocks of NBME exams.

You can just hit pause whenever and stop the clock. A popup comes that says are you sure (and unlike Qbank the clock isn't running when this pops up) I do that and when I come back I just hit cancel so I don't close the exam. You can also close and resume though it changed the date I had to use it by when I did that so I decided not to do that again!

Actually, I did what you did on one of my NBME tests and the clock kept running. I finished up a block, the next one came up and I hit pause without pressing ok and took about a 15 minute break. I came back, hit cancel, and to my surprise I had only 43 minutes left! So after that I just hit ok on that pop up menu.

Really? Are you taking it in test mode or the untimed? I haven't done any in test mode so maybe they are more strict about timing?

(sorry for the edit- my cat thinks my keyboard is a toy)

Yeah I was taking my test in standard (timed) mode. It's just something I noticed while taking one of my tests and after that I made sure to completely quit the test.
