Hey guys, its been a while since Ive posted but I just took my DAT yesterday and I can say that I did much better my second time around! I went from an 18AA to 20AA. Scores below as follows:
PAT 25
QR 21
RC 19
Bio 17
GC 19
OC 20
TS 18
AA 20
Huge S/O to DESTROYER and BC's free practice exam 🙂
So, like most of you on this forum, you are a college student who is dedicated to his/her work and wants nothing but success. Thats great right there and that attitude goes far. I had to juggle school, work, and DAT studying this Fall semester and I can say that anyone can do well on this if you prioritize what is important. My weekends were spent staying in and doing all DAT work (I rewarded myself by watching the Cowboys on Sundays. HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS). I am satisfied with my scores but Bio could've easily been better.
How could I have improved Bio? and how can you do better in Bio? Do DESTROYER Bio over and over while reading Cliffs. My mistake was waiting 2 weeks before my exam to read Cliffs and I was lucky to get through some of the important topics as I did see questions that looked like they came directly from Cliffs.
PAT is kind of easy for me so I didn't spend a lot of time on it. Just move fast and DO NOT second guess yourself.
QR is also something that comes easy when you move fast. Do not think too much about the problem. If it seems like it will take more than 2 minutes, mark it and move onto the easier questions. Believe me, there are easy math problems in it.
RC was by far my worst last time (16), but I just kept reading and reading books to the point where I just want to learn new things. Not to mention, one of my passages (~16 questions) was the easiest S&D. Just read for fun and this section can become simpler.
GC and OC were not easy for me in college by any means, but Destroyer clears so many things up. I would look through and read the answers in the back to ones I got right and wrong and worked the problem again. Repetition was the biggest key. Roadmaps are also a big plus when doing OC. I probably had 5 of my 30 questions be simple synthesis questions. I remember me struggling with Ka,Kb,Kc, etc. and I watched Chad's videos to clear lots of things up for me.
I worked 50Bio/day, 30GC/day, 30OC/day, 1 Math Destroyer test/day, Read a chapter or 2 in a book/night for about a 4 month period and I do not regret it one bit. I learned so much and love learning so its a pretty swag thing.
Hopefully I can serve as motivation for those who have to take the DAT during their school year as, again, I had to study around work, school, and on-campus committees.
Good luck to everyone!
