Breaking contract outside the match

I signed a contract with a preliminary surgery program a couple of days ago outside the match. I now have an (outside the match) offer from a preliminary medicine program that is much better suited to my needs (and by needs I do NOT mean work load, location, call schedule, or any other petty aspects of programs). If I choose to break my contract with the recently signed program, and join the more suitable residency, will I suffer negative consequences?
