for those of u applyin to tulane. I have some news that might affect some of yall's decisions or else just consider it FYI:
It is now more or less official: med school is expanding to new building. Most of the teaching facilities will be relocated as the school is completeing negotiations for a 20yr lease for 200,000 sqft of new space as it attempts to upgrade teaching facilities and substantially increase number of faculty. Relocation of teaching facilities may begin as early as this spring.
Definitly some good news. School is finally beginning to make some moves made possible in part by tripling of our NIH grants over the last three years.
New building is located two blocks from the old building and is located across the street from the superdome.
This announcement was made by the Dean taylor to group of administrative faculty and student leaders today - fresh from the oven baby.
also at the same meeting, new dean of admissions (forget her name) was complaining that there are "too many qualified candidates this year" and she wanted to see some increases in enrollement but I dont think thats gonna happen anytime soon. So, if if you're waiting to hear from them still post secondary or post-interview, I would do whatever i can do separate myself from the pack.
