Hey everyone. So I have an upcoming competency for a 3 unit bridge on #18-#20 and I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to get a really nice provisional. I struggle with shaping my embrasures and it just looks bad. Any tips?

The disc is the best thing in the world for shaping the embrasures. When you're working on the pontic and modfied ridge lap use the pineapple to round it. I use the disc for fine details and pineapple for taking off excess material you don't need. Also if you take the disc and cut a circle between the entire embrasure it really helps. Like a depth cut.

Watch this video from 5:27 and beyond for the embrasures (It should auto play from that point if you just click play actually). I feel like this video will do better than how I explained it.

Do you like the sandpaper ones or the metal separating discs? I find the metal ones to be really sharp, but maybe I don't have the feel for it yet.

Metal discs are great, or a thin diamond in a high speed.

I like the metal discs. Just use light pressure and you'll see how much you need to remove.

Question is, would your patient comes back if you make a really nice provisional.... I had a patient that left without getting his crown.... Can't even contact the guy lol.... I guess he didn't want to pay for it...

For practicals, gotta make it nice, but I totally agree with patients. Gotta make it ok, cause then they actually come back for the real thing.
