bringing resume to the interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was wondering how you guys feel about bringing a resume to the interview. My advisor suggested that I give the resume to the people interviewing me,however it's such a hassle to prepare one. Do people usually bring one to the interviews?

it can't hurt; it can only help. just prepare one and make many copies for all the upcoming interviews.

The people interviewing you usually have already read over your AMCAS application and your secondary application. These people know you, at least from what you've already told the medical school. Bringing a resume seems to be a little redundant, and I'd imagine that you would probably get some questioning looks. Don't go over the edge - I'd leave the resume at home.

Maybe bring an "updates" resume, one sheet on all the things you've been doing since the submission of your AMCAS. I was thinking about doing that but I'm not sure...

Wondering the same thing.

It's a little redundant, perhaps, given the AMCAS app...? On the other hand, interviewers might appreciate the refresher course in Applicant #893?

😕

Redundant, unless you have updates. I don't think adcoms want any more paper to sift through than is absolutely necessary.

they'll never look at it.

besides, wouldn't you want to have a conversation about your activities rather than having your interviewer read it?

I had been told by me pre-med committee to carry around copies with me (as well as copies of my personal statement). No one ever asked to see either, but I felt prepared. 🙂

If you want, put anything you would like to bring or feel you may need (resume, updates, personal statement) in a little folder with some note paper in it. That way you wont look weird carrying around all of these papers and if no one asks for them just leave them in the folder and bring them to your next interview.
