Hey, just got my suit for the interview and I felt like a bull in a china shop😀 Anyway, give me your opinion, because I want to look particularly dapper....charcoal suit, should I go with the more traditional black shoes and belt, or should I be a little more contemporary and get the oxblood shoes?

Judging by your taste in music, I'd say that we are the ones who should be asking you for fashion advice.

Traditional and conservative all the way. I know it sounds dumb but anything that makes you look more serious and less like a liability is key🙂. Control the control-ables.

And girls: WEAR YOUR HAIR BACK!

Not really my taste in music...but it did make you read this thread!😉 Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my black shoes are from payless...i bought them 4 years ago.

So I can't show off my pinstripe suit with my blinged out spinner chain, 4 carrot rocks, and my iced-out time piece? I suppose I'll leave my black marble cane in the car; but I'll just take the feather out of my black suede hat.

only if you want to specialize in grillz

don't wear black shoes w/ a charcoal suit. wear brown shoes!! black is too conservative and out of style. i had a very dark blue suit (almost charcoal) w/ almost invisible pinstripes. i sported my brown bostonians and received many complements... under the suit wear a light blue shirt w/ a striped blue and brown banana tie 🙂

whoo's bringin sexy back?
jb!🙂

Sounds a little too GQ for D-school... no?

I like your style...I'm leaning that way.

coming from me, a fashion design student turned dental student, DONT ASK, do under no circumstances wear brown shoes!
keep the charcoal suit, slide into black pumps, and add a white buttondown. cant go wrong. trust me.

i'll post a pic and post you all wrong 😉

jb!

honestly tho, wear what you feel comfortable wearing. if you feel subconcious, then it will show. lookin GQ made me feel more confident so that's the route i took. either way, as long as you're wearing a suit that fits nice i doubt it matters. have you seen the way the ADCOMs dress? 😱

What if I have short hair? 😱
not short as a boy, but not long enough to hold it back

As long as it's trimmed nicely and brushed, you're fine 🙂. It's the tumble-weed/garden-topiary-gone-awry effect which concerns me...

Maybe not brown or tan, but how about burgundy? Very chic I think...😕 ha ha...i really have no clue😉

I doubt even Justin Timberlake can pull off the burgandy on charcoal 😎 (sorry!). Remember who your audience is. Stay clean, stay classic...

Yeah! Thanks for the beta. I may still do it, but either way, I'll let you know how I am received🙂

Yeah, nice! I'm going with the versani charcoal 3 button (i don't match pin stripes), plain white shirt with patterned burgundy with flecks of blue tie, and of course the tahoe brown (burgundy) bostonians with matching belt. At least I'll feel confident in it!😀

actually, I would recommend a silk paisley smoking jacket, letting a tuft of chest hair shine through, and rolling your own cigarrettes with scented tobacco on the table of your interview room. Double points if you drag a wingback chair around with you and refuse to sit anywhere else.

I really don't think your interviewers are going to care too much how you dress, as long as you look at least semi-professional. At every interview I've been on, there have been some very fashinably dressed people; people with the forbidden pinstripe suits, french collars, paisley ties (some all at the same time 😱)

I just wish I had known this ahead of time, because I ended up buying a very boring, traditional suit that I feel out-of-place in and will likely never wear again (maybe to a funeral)

Kudos to you guys, bring the sexy back, and try to bring a little more to make up for me 😉

I don't think its possible to go too conservative, but that said, if you've got style there's no reason to hide it. Style and dentistry aren't mutually exclusive.

I think i look best with a buzz cut sorta like this
but have grown my hair for interviews.. i have been dying to cut it off but i don't think i should..

Do you guys think that in a suit this hair could be seen as clean-cut and professional? Anyone wear their hair this short on interviews?

Ya know, some guys wait way to long to go the clean cut route...no comb-overs!!!😎
