What problem do Broca's aphasia patients have?

Inability to understand others
Inability to label objects
Halting speech
Inability to write

Answer was C. Isn't writing disability also part of Broca's aphasia? Wikipedia says BA deals with "loss of the ability to produce language (spoken or written)."

Writing disability is not the same thing as an inability to write. Halting speech is a hallmark characteristic of Broca's aphasia, so C is the best answer.

Inability to write is an extreme answer....realize that these answers are generally not desirable on the MCAT. Additionally, aphasic patients are frustrated...because writing/speaking is so difficult...not that they can't necessarily do it..but an inordinate amount of effort is needed to produce simple sounds/coherent thoughts. Also, technically they CAN write...just the words are jumbled and incoherent..so there's always that to eliminate D. But the main reason to eliminate it is because it is extreme.
