FA 2011 pg 296 says that Bronchial Carcinoid tumors can lead to ectopic ACTH...is this true/a common association or a typo? I assume "Bronchial Carcinoid" is the same thing a carcinoid tumor in the lung which I only associated with Seretonin excess.

Thanks in advance.

I'm talking about in the Endocrine section under Ectopic ACTH causes. In the Pulmonary section mine just says seretonin as well.

Good Catch... It seems like Bronchial Carcinoid is the MOST common ACTH secreting tumor.

UptoDate:

Both typical and atypical bronchial carcinoids can cause Cushing's syndrome due to ectopic production of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) [30-33]. Bronchial carcinoid is the most common cause of ectopic ACTH production; other malignant causes include SCLC and disseminated neuroendocrine tumors of unknown primary site.
