I interviewed at Bronx Leb this year and was SHOCKED at how different the experience was from what I had expected.
I went in extremely apprehensive and scared: the MCQ test, the humiliation, the ****ty hospital, etc.
There was no MCQ test, the interview was a pleasant experience, we were served breakfast and lunch, and the new chairman (a pediatric surgeon) was very charming. The residents seemed happy and the hospital wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

How did you guys like it? Can anyone share their experiences either interviewing, working, or rotating there?

I had heard the same (and worse) comments before applying, so I didn't even apply there. A friend of mine who went to the interview didn't even rank it, 2 yrs ago. Granted, things can change, however usually it takes years to improve the culture (and some other stuff).

You may want to consider a 2nd visit (less formal, people will be more spontaneous) if you are that interested in the place.

That's my .02 w/o having ever been there.

Thanks for the reply. That is the same story I have from people who applied last year and the year before. What did you friend have to say about the place? I don't think I can manage a second visit with my schedule.

The new chairman seems very sincere and is making a lot of new changes to the place: hired 6 new attendings, making the program more academic, plans to add a research year, building a sim lab, etc. He only joined in April this year, so it will probably take a while, as you said, before the changes really take root.
