I heard a rumor that there are 7 or 8 males out of the 16 interns in the categorical pediatric program at Brown this year. The website hasn't been updated with the new interns, so I can't tell. Any Brown med students or other people out there who might know if this is actually true? That'd be crazy!

Also, if anyone has done away rotations there I'd love to hear your thoughts. I've heard good things, but there isn't a lot on here about the program. Thanks.

Crazy bad or crazy good?

Just wondering🙄

By the way, I don't have time to load up the stats software, but I doubt that a more usual 25-30% male which would be 4-5 males and 11-12 females is very statistically different by chi-square from the hypothesized 7-8 males and 8-9 females. It'd need to be P < 0.001 for me to consider the likelihood it has physiological significance.🙂

A med student from Brown PM'ed me and said that the rumor I had heard was right, apparently!

7 of the 16 categorical peds interns are male
2 of the 4 Med/Peds interns are male
2 of the 3 triple board interns are male

And I meant "crazy" as a good thing. As an applicant in peds I definitely don't want to be stuck in one of those programs where there are 15 females and 1 male. We'll see how it goes when I interview in December I suppose!
