BRS v. Kaplan for USMLE I

anyone have an opinion as to whether BRS or the Kaplan set of books are better in reviewing for Step I and pros/cons either way? i'm trying to make up my mind . . . i have all the BRS's . . . . is it worth it for me to pay another $450 or so for the kaplan books?

my plan is to parallel one of these, either BRS or kaplan, with first aid (i.e., read sections in either BRS or kaplan, do corresponding sections in first aid, and do corresponding q's in qbank)

one other question . . . . is it more efficient to do a subject-based over a systems-based approach to organizing this information? (i think the kaplan books are organized in both ways.) so much to cover b/w now and june! 😱

hmm, I'm using kaplan primarily, but I also have the BRS's. I like Kaplan cause I sometimes feel the BRS's are lacking some explanations and such. I think the BRS for Path and Physio are pretty good, but I don't know about the others. Im using basically kaplan and first aid, but if there's something I'm not getting then I will probably look into the BRS.

BRS + Qbank + First aid is plenty!! Do not buy more books..you will get overwhelmed. By the end I was doing only qbank and writing notes from the question answers in my first aid. I did great on the exam--and I truly believe most of it is stamina. BRS is a great series and will be plenty for review!

Check the Kaplan site. They sell th better stuff & qbook for ~$45 each.
