Hi, does anyone know if the science courses and the lab are separate classes at the Bryn Mawr program? The reason I ask is because I took both gen. chem. courses already, but I only took the lab for the first course. I would still need to take the lab for the second gen. chem. at Bryn Mawr, but I'm not sure if they separate the lab from the class (I know some schools join the class and lab into one entity). Any input would help!

Thanks!

I received your PM regarding the same issue, but I'll just respond here for the benefit of others in your situation.

Most formal programs like Bryn Mawr avoid the bureaucratic registration red tape encountered at larger schools. You can take whatever, whenever, basically, so long as you discuss it well in advance with one of the deans. I'm not sure if I'm remembering this exactly right, but I think my year someone did exactly what you're in need of. You can show up after the 4th of July when the second summer session starts and just take the Gen Chem II lab.

Just a friendly piece of advice -- I'd brush up on your Gen Chem before then because if you show up not having studied the material in a few years and jump right into the lab, you're going to get your ass handed to you. The labs (esp the chemistry ones) are no joke at BM.

Good luck with your applications in October.

Sorry NewmansOwn, I could have sworn the private message didn't go through because it wasn't under my sent folders. I actually looked at the course catalog for Bryn Mawr College, and I didn't see separate classes for the lab and the class. I am looking at the classes for the undergrads though, so it may be that the post-baccs sign up for the class and lab separately because they have their own special classes. Is this the case?

Yes.
