Hi I am a high school junior looking into various BS/MD programs. I want, obviously, a strong resume. So I got into the Governor's school of Healthcare. And I want to know between governor's school and another paid or volunteer internship, which one looks better or does it not matter?

Thanks.

Hi. I think the lack of responses is because people either aren't quite sure or it doesn't matter. Personally, I'd go with governor's school since that is quite prestigious. Overall, though, I think a high GPA and a great SAT are your two biggest tickets. The governor's school certainly helps though.

I participated in the Pennsylvania Governor's School for Healthcare in 04 and I've done numerous paid and volunteer internships at hospitals throughout the state.

Here's my advice: GO TO GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL.
It's amazing. You do several cadaver labs, shadow physicians, live on a medical school campus for 5 weeks, and meet people that you'll again see at your medical school interviews.

You're not even in college yet. No hospital is going to give you a meaningful experience until you're at least a junior in college. You'll probably just be paper pushing or retrieving blankets for patients.

I gained so much from governor's school. Seriously, don't miss this opportunity.

Thank you both so much. This has really helped me choose, I'm pretty sure I'll go to Governor's School this coming summer.
