I am wondering how an admissions staff would react to someone entering with a BSN? would it be similar to someone appplying to 100 med schools and pods school too? I am still considering med school(just being honest-I just find folks on PodSDN alot nicer) and pod school. I am looking at something I can do on weekends to supplement income or continue experienceetc. Any thoughts on it-PM me if you have something personal(attacks-threats-or👍 idea) thanks. Pig Soooie really stinks these days.🙁

I think that having a nursing degree is great for any medical program b/c it shows dedication to the health sciences.

As for applying to med school and pod school, it may hurt both of your applications b/c it looks like indecision. But if you are solid applicant, you will still get in. You also just need to have an answer when they ask with both areas. If you have a solid answer to the question then they will be hard pressed to hold it against you.

As for something to do on the weekend, good luck. I never had a lot of free time on the week ends b/c of tests (just about every week). I celebrated when I had a free weekend. I would suggest not working but it is up to you. Just remember you only go to med school once so do yourself and your patients a favor and work hard in school.

I really hope to have made a decision by December on the issue of med/pod school. I am shadowing a pod and several family practices. I really do not see a reason to hit up all the sub specialties of Md-I mean thats a lot . I think the BSN will be helpful: pathophysiology, pharmacology, health assessments and others. I want a small jump on it because I really do not have time with a FT job, family and FT school to do a lot more volunteering or shadowing. how much shadowing /volunteering would be enough to expose a person to a medical specialty? (not for a number to impress-but to understand the field better) thanks for the feeedback.

I would contact the admissions reps at the schools b/c it varies greatly.

If you mean that you are going to work before school; I think it is a great idea. If you meant during school, I again so bad idea.
