Hi,

does anyone know if you go to BU if they allow you or offer the opportunity to take the Western Regional Boards along with the Northeastern regionals for board certification?

Most students take the NERB exam however your free to take any other state/regional licensing board of your choosing.

cool, but just so i have it correct. I can take any board I choose to and I won't have to fly out to somewhere else to take the WREB, I can take those boards at BU or somewhere near BU, right?

The NERB exam is integrated into the academic schedule so that you can take the exam at the school and prior to graduating. I doubt that the WERB has ever been hosted at the school. Not sure if its the schools policy to not offer it on site or if its due to the respective licensure boards not willing to offer it outside of their primary jurisdiction. I have known dental mates that travelled outside of MA to take other state and regional boards. My understanding of it, is that initial licensure in any, if not all states, is a very politically driven process. Hence policies change often. Hope this helps.

I have heard that BU will be hosting the WREB in the future i.e. next year, but I havn't substantiated that rumor.

I am assuming by BU you mean Boston University. In which case, this is the first year that Boston University will be hosting the WREB examination at the school. It is ture that the NERB is scheduled in the academic calander because the majority of students take the NERB.

It is also true that as a student you can take any licensure exam you wish, but only the NERB, and starting this year, the WREB are offered at BU.
