Hi

I am applying in BU. They need course by course analysis of degree as well as transcript from ECE. I'm wondering how ECE can do course by course analysis of degree??
Has anyone done this and applied for admission for next year??
Please help me & tell me about it!

hello Sam3,
A doubt abt the evaluation report from ECE for Boston.
when I requested for course by course evaluation report,I sent my dental school diploma along with the transcripts to ECE.

Boston has asked for a sealed copy of translated diploma other than that of transcript from ECE.so will ECE sent 2 sealed copies 1 for course by course evaluation and 1 for diploma ?I got only 1 sealed copy of the course by course evaluation report from ECE. do I need to get 2,one for the diploma too?can u clarify this? I thought I didn't get the translated copy of diploma becoz it is already in english.

Do not take what I am gonna write here as a final answer cause I have not sent my application to BU yet,But let me tell you what I understode from their site(by the way I will call them tomorrow to clarify this matter ).

1)-when I requested my course by course evaluation from the ECE

I wrote in my form that I needed 5 extra copies,I called ECE 10 days after to check if they have recieved my application,the guy overthere told me that they will send me one copy for my use(this one is not official and it does not come in a seald envelop).The other 5 copies will come in a sealed and stamped envelop for each one of them(I will enclose one of them with my app to BU).

2)-BU also asks for your deploma to be evaluated by ECE ,but we already did this when we applied for NDB-1.At that time I sent my Diploma to ECE and I requested 3 additional copies(which came in a sealed and stamped envelop).I used one of them to apply for NDB-1,and I still have the other 2 which I will enclose one of them for BU app.You really scared me whith your question man, cause I allready asumed that this is what they are asking for at BU so I will call them tomorrow to aske about it.

I hope that I am right with my guessing cause if they need another Diploma evaluation I will be reeeeeee....ally screwd .this will delay my app for another 3 to 4 weeks.

If I am right- and I am praying to God that I am-,let me tell you how you can get your official copy of your Diploma .Call the ECE and give them your OLD referance no#(I mean that one written on your 1st Diploma evaluation which you used when you applied for NDB-1) and ask them for an official copy of your previosly evaluated Diploma in a sealed stamped envelop.Anyways, I repeat :this is not my final answer give me till tomorrow to call BU and ask them.

Sorry for scaring you,but the fact is I am the one who is more scared.I have already sent my application and enclosed just the 1 evaluation report [course by course]I got from ECE.becoz I thought they gave everything together.
When I applied for NDB 1, I had requested a General evaluation report from ECE.Is that same as getting your Diploma evaluated?becoz I didn't see an option for diploma Evaluation alone in ECE application form.I thought they prepared everything together for the course by course evaluationsince our diploma is in english.
Once again I am truly sorry for causing you this anxiety.will wait for ur post tomorrow.I tried calling BU for some other questions earlier but I couldn't talk to the person in charge.so I don't want to keep on calling esp since I have already sent the application,But will wait for ur post after you call them.hope they will notify me if there is something missing in my application packet.

You do not need to appologize for anything buddy.At this great forum we are all friends and we learn frome our mutual experiences.It is true that you scared the hell out of me ,but seriously (no hard feelings at all ).

Now the good news: I called BU today and I was right in my assumption.The Diploma evaluation that they need is the same(General evaluation report ) that we used when we applied for part-1.

what you said in your last post is true.In the ECE application form in section 2 there is no spicial choice that says; Diploma Evaluation.In fact it is the SAME ONE AS GENERAL EVALUATION REPORT.So just do what I already told you call ECE and give them your OLD ref no# which you used to apply for part-1 and ask them to send you an official copy in a seald envelop of your previous GENERAL EVALUATION report.


One more time No HARD FEELINGS.

thanks sam3 for the reply and no hard feelings at all!

since I sent my diploma Certificate too with the course by course evaluation application form,they gave everything together,my diploma evaluation is included in the report .the first page is ditto of my general evaluation report and the second page has course by course evaluation.so guess I am ok.hope BU will notify me if I need to sent GE report again.

This is my personal opinion. The whole Course by Course Eval with relative GPA. I have seen incosistencies in comparison with standardized formulas between systems in different countries as well as different institutes in the same country. Things like some schools are more liberal in awarding the marks and others have much more conservative systems. There asre schools where more than 50 percent of students repeat atleast one year. And passing in a subject is so difficult. In such scenario how could they equate the systems and schools. I find this ridiculous and think they should judge students on more standardized formats,whatever it may be. Like Part 1 scores, practical exams,or some tests to check every one on the same equation, rather than depending on ECE kind of evaluation. Atleast they shall not compare the GPAs. Again this is my personal opinion.

I won't go as far as naming it a farse, but I guess your right to some extent. And that's the exact reason why US schools usually give more value to NBDE scores than to the rest of the applicants stats. 'cause they know it is the only standarized test that measures all of us the same way, no matter where we went to school.

They still need to see the ECE evaluation just to make sure you actually went to that school, and that is not a scam.
AND to see what kind of record you kept during school, you know, to see if you always studied, or if you kept failing and/or withdrawing courses, etc.

Admissions officers know their stuff, this is what they have been doing for years, they know when someone is trying to fool them.
And they know how to look at different countries transcripts and applications.

I'm pretty sure an F on some course from an Indian (this sounds weird Henna, 😀 ) school, is not seen the same as an F from a Latin American school, Caribbean school or an European school for that matter. The same with W's, A's, GPA's, etc.
After all, why do you think they accept more Indians than any other nationality/ethnicity into US Dental and Medical schools?
I mean, I know the applicants number is higher, but still.....
