I got into both Tufts and BU this week and I love them both.... I made a pro and con list for each school and they're exactly equal! I have to make my decision soon.

Advice?

What does your pro/con sheet look like?

if all else is the same, it looks like tufts budget sheet puts it ~$2k cheaper than BU per year, so i'd go with that.
good luck!

If its close now remember Tufts will have fully updated and upgraded and finished the modifications by the winter of next year.

Brand new clinics....just sayin 👍

Tufts for sure man

BU has made the transition to online booking and changed their 3rd year clinical by not requiring specific procedures for you to pass. Its a one grade kinda deal. BU is really sprucing up everything. BU is also a very relaxed environment. I can't wait to start!👍

i was really impressed by tufts man. the VEI will be done soon, meaning way more chairs for everyone, among other things that like their philosophy and great reputation back east. plus i had pho right outside after my interview, that was pretty cool haha. don't know anything about bu, but in my opinion tufts is amazing.

You need to interview graduates and students from both schools... get their impressions... no two schools are exactly the same... you need to pick what suits you best.

Both schools are faaaabulous. Either will make you happy!!!!'

I met a tufts dental student a few years ago who told me that dental students at tufts get penalized if they don't take the national dental board part I by a certain deadline. This could be a problem if you are planning on specializing as it puts added stress and therefore, could affect your performance on the test. You are at a disadvantage because you don't have the freedom to take your boards when you feel you are ready. You don't have the flexibility to schedule your studies for the boards around your studies for your classes. What happens if you are forced to take your national dental boards around the same time period when you are taking your final exams for dental school because the inconvenient deadline determined by the school is approaching? That's a lot of pressure and stress placed on the student in my opinion. There are many dental schools who do not place a restriction on students to take their national boards by a specific deadline. Check with BU to see what their policies are on the this issue. It could change your decision to attend one school versus the other.

If I had to choose for you, I'd pick tufts... since I just interviewed at BU.

Just kiddin man..
If I were in your shoes I'd probably pick tufts. But I haven't visited so I don't know how well they live up to all the great things you hear. THe price is similar though... don't know if its significant enough to make a decision off of. I'd say if I visited and the program was good and it seemed as great as ppl said, I'd pick tufts.

I wasn't entirely 100% impressed with BU when I went. The students didn't act very professional when they were around us (which was fine to a certain extend until tehy started gossiping about fellow classmates and professors.... which seemed really odd). That sortof irritated me and set the mood sour, but overall the SCHOOL itself seems great. APEX and the 10 week externship thing sounded cool. I'm sure not all teh students are like that so I know I shouldn't base my decision off of their comments and such... but of course its gonna make an impression on me, ya know!? I don't know much about boston but maybe if hte cost of living is significantly different in the two different regions ( i knwo they are close... how close I dont know) that could make a difference? I"d go to BU if it was the only place I got into... but right now I am in nowhere so don't have any luxuries yet!

If all else fails go with your gut!

Good luck choosing.

Bashing a school on a public form doesn't help...

Do you think what I said is bad? I was shocked by the students that they had with us, and yes the cost is high. It made there seem like something was missing.

I think the program sounds great but the a bad taste of something during a visit sets the whole thing sour. I was just being honest with the guy who asked the question.

Thanks for calling me out though. I know I don't have any acceptances.
