Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I’m lucky to be holding a couple acceptances, and I’m having a difficult time choosing so any input would be appreciated!
BU:
Pros:
- great city/environment, ideal for grad students and young people in my opinion
- really loved the passionate students and faculty, resonate with the mission to serve the underserved
- great academic center, lots of research opportunities
- networking in Boston for top residencies (Brigham, MassGen)
Cons:
- $75K COA per year
- farther from home though not terrible as it from NJ
RWJ:
Pros:
- full tuition scholarship (<50K in loans when I’m out)
- close to home, so family nearby and familiar area
- solid state school, decent rep in northeast which is where I ultimately want to end up
Cons:
- not as great research (? Not entirely sure if the difference is that big)
- lesser prestige (? Again unsure if the difference is as big as I’m making it out to be in my mind)
- 40 minutes away from my hometown, and I took summer classes at the undergrad so it wouldn’t be this new/exciting experience, plus area is more suburban
- students all live off campus and need cars, worried about class bonding/cohesiveness
Thanks for any and all input!
UPDATE: Also got Brown's financial package, would ultimately be $200K after 4 years before interest.
