Buffalo School of Dental Medicine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am an alumni, I went there solely for the in state tuition I received shortly after beginning the program, the education is average.

That's exactly why I am interested in the school, I just don't know what my odds are. I want to make sure that I at least secure a spot in their program, in case it happens to be the cheapest. I am a sophomore so I have some time to build my resume but do you mind commenting on my stats?

GPA: 3.8
DAT: Haven't taken yet
Extracurricular's: Honor's Society, Dental Club Secretary, Tutor students in Bio through a free-tutoring program at my school, some community involvement, lots of Dentist shadow hours

I am also not sure if the school is big on research, will it be a major disadvantage if I have no research experience? I have been looking for labs to work in but it just hasn't been working out. If it is big, then I will keep trying of course, but if it won't help much, I would rather spend more time on other things. Also, any more suggestions on extracurriculars, I feel like these are still not enough, considering how competitive they are :/
Accepted student here. Keep that 3.8 till the end. Aim for 20+ on the dat and you're golden. No research either (at least not directly) and your ECs look good. Try shadowing specialties

Thanks for the reply! When do you think I should take the DAT, and how long should I study for it before I take it? Also, what do you mean by no research directly?

I took it January senior year but I also took a gap year so it depends when you want to start. I studied 3 months for the DAT.
I wasn't doing any actual research just helping around gathering data. (Public health research)
