I don't want to give my opinions because I don't want to direct the discussion in a certain direction. I just want to hear brand new opinions. The only points I want to make is that cost is important to me (but they are very similar), I'm not planning on specializing.

Please give me your opinions

Did you already receive call from UDM? I like the amazing clinical experience at UDM, and Buffalo maybe too cold for :/. Just imagine the type of education and †he people you're going to interact with when you walk into the school's entrance every day.

Thanks for the advice

Go with the cheapest (probably Buffalo). Both schools will make you a competent dentist.

I'm almost done 1st semester at UDM, and it's a fine school but pricey!

What's The tuition + living + expenses over 4 years at UDM? It's estimated at $350,000 at buffalo.

Also how's living in Detroit?

You can become a resident in NY after one year, it should be about 230,000 for everything- instate tuition.

I don't think most people that go to that school live in Detroit, they live in the suburbs surrounding the city. Also the people in the city are not very relevant to you as you will almost 100% be making friends with people in the school not really with people living in the city...unless of course you make friends with your patients.

Buffalo living expenses - you can't beat it. $500 for a 1 bedroom including everything. You split a house with 2 or 3 roommates, you can end up paying barely $350 for everything including utilities. I don't think Detroit is quite that affordable.

come lol, you can live in windsor and hang out with me

I have a question for you. How do you find the commute by living in Windsor? Does the border ever become a problem here and there? I ask b/c I'm strongly considering UDM, but just wanted an idea regarding where Canadians tend to live. Thanks

the pro is that we canadians living in windsor spend less time commuting than our american classmates. detroit suburb dwellers take 30-45 min getting to school where on a good day, it only takes me 15 min. however, you have to anticipate random check which can take up to an hour of time - this has made me late for 2 exams. learning the hard way, we now make sure to leave an extra hours time before an exam. which really sucks when they start at 7am..... other than that it's been pretty decent so far.

all 20 of us canadians in the class (except 2) live in windsor. we have a pretty good group here but it's super troublesome when we wanna go out to meet our american friends (nobody wants to DD cross-border)

also our cohort situation isn't bad, we get the same education as previous years and it's like we have a small and close class size, we just never get to see our counterparts.

Great. Thanks for the response. So I guess as a Canadian it makes a lot more sense for me to find a place in Windsor, which shouldn't be too hard to do.

Buffalo hands down! I hear its a much better school! UDM is over priced for having to share facilities with such a large class size and dangerous neighborhood!

Buffalo without a doubt.

we got a carpool going during orientation but that disbanded because following clinical rotations everyone's schedules started to change. it gets pricey paying toll charges but windsor is super cheap so its worth it. i'm actually enjoying it here very much. the curriculum is more rigorous but manageable - i still get to go home once a month, hang out with my windsor classmates most days and make it to the gym every day too👍
