News on Buffalo.

I received a postcard saying that my app is under review. It looks like they finally got in gear and started processing apps. 👍

The bad news is that if they don't offer an interview until november I will probably not go. (I have five other interviews already, and Buffalo isn't too high on my list of 16 schools)👎

Anybody else in the same boat?

What is your preferred choice?


I think I read you applied to case. I applied to case as well and it would be my preferred choice but a lot of people are telling me that if you don't apply by July or very early august, you're out of luck.

I am taking the DAT next sat and only then my app. would be complete.🙁
 
My top choices are Case, UNLV, Ohio State, lousiville, Nova, Boston
 
I wish I applied to Buffalo. I heard that the program is really great (comments on predents.com). Plus, they supposedly don't really care if you are out of state. Do you guys know the protocols for adding a school on AADSAS?

I am not trying to sound conceited. I am sure there are some people out there who can't afford to fly all over the country for four months straight, besides me.

My stats are okay but not the best. I am just saying that if buffalo is like my seventh or eighth interview offer, I probably won't make it there due to funding.

If you have five interviews what are your chances of getting in to all those schools? I might have to fly to buffalo for the interview, what if the other schools pass on me?
 
Did anyone else get the post card? I applied there and I didn't. Does that mean they don't have my stuff since I've heard nothing from them?

i got the post card yesterday telling me they still need my hs transcript and that my application is complete and under review....that's about it!
 
I received a postcard today saying my app was complete and under review.
 
I got a post card today saying they didn't get my DAT scores.

ADA said they sent my scores Aug 30. :meanie:
 
Well, I called Buffalo to ask if they received the DAT scores yet and they still haven't, they said. Called ADA and they said they sent them 8/30, and Buffalo does have them; that all the New York schools are slow at processing and they're probably sitting somewhere in a big pile at Buffalo. 😳
 
I also got this postcard about a week ago saying they don't have my HS transcript, but today I received a thick letter from them saying:

"After a careful review of this year's applicants, the Student Admissions Committee invites you to visit the School of Dental Medicine to meet with committee members, faculty and students"

The letter included a map of the campus and list of nearby hotels, but nowhere in the letter does it explicitly say that this is an "interview", but it sure as hell seems like it if i have to fly there, which is a bit confusing. Also it says theres some kind of on the spot essay that will be presented while there, which you get 10 minutes to write.

Anybody else get this letter?
 
I got it. Its definitely an interview.

when were your printouts mailed by AADSAS to Buffalo? I'm asking anybody who got a post-card or interview.
 
july 17th. make sure you have sent everything in. even your hs transcripts
 
Can someone post where to send the secondary fee for buffalo and how much to send? the link on aadsas is not working right now.
 
i havent heard a thing for them... they said a postcard will be sent soon and my appl. is under review when i called.

I just want to share that I wasn't going to go to my Buffalo interview, either. I didn't want to make the long drive and at the time I thought another school would be my top choice. Well, I ended up HATING my previous top choice and fell in love with Buffalo! (And here I am, two months into school.) I say, always go to your interviews. You didn't go through this work and make it this far to then worry about picking and choosing because of plane fares/what you've read on sites/initial feelings about each school.

I know it's sooo expensive, but everyone's in the same boat, and in my opinion, don't skimp now when you have made it far enough to get interviews! THIS is where that money should go. 👍 👍 Have fun with it, and just eat Ramen for a year 🙂 (vitamins, too.)
 
You are right, I think I will go anyway. I will go into it with no stress, maybe catch a Bills game or something. I agree with spoiling yourself at this point if you can, we all earned it!!!!

are there two dsmacks? One of them say DSMACK and the other dddsmack. I am assuming they are the same but there post #'s are different-are you the same person dsmack and dddsmack?😕

The original Dsmack got ousted by G avinC because he bashed ASDOH. dddsmack is dsmack reincarnated SDN style. (yes its me😀 )

I am also 6 other people on this network, try it, it is fun to be many people!

I just got back from the interview there last week. It's a school i really didn't give much consideration, but after the visit, i was really impressed with the place. Their program seems top notch and the city is very quaint and beautiful.
