My last post made me think about building bridges in residency.

In our program, we rarely see each other. We have morning report once a week, but unless you get there super early (which most don't), you don't get a chance to hang out with each other to shoot the breeze. As soon as that is done, we are in cases until a half hour lunch. There, we may or may not see 2 or 3 others, but we have to eat quick and get back into cases. And we don't have a retreat or anything.

How are other programs getting to know the other residents? Like getting to know them pretty well outside of work.

This is how we're doing it! Seems to work pretty well.

drinks mainly. it used to be a weekly thing, but it seems like we're buisier this year.

we have a big enough program that there are always a few residents eating together at lunch and dinner. sometimes breakfast.
