Hi all, I just started bench test preps at home, but I realize the burs I have are a bit bigger in size.
Can anyone please suggest which burs to use for home preparations? Which burs are provided by dental schools for bench tests? And if we have to take our own burs, are there any specifications for them?
Thanks in advance.

Here is my suggestion on burs :

856- 014 ( round end taper) for gross reduction of crown preps.
878 K- 012 ( chamfer bur) for giving chamfer finish for eg gold crown or lingual of PFM
837-012 (Flat end, straight) for shoulder margin
859 ( needle) for interproximal of crown preps
379 -018 football shape for lingual of PFM
330 pear shape carbide for class 2 amalgam'
56 straight fissure carbide for class 2 amalgam
169 or 179 L for MOD onlay/3/4 crown, 7/8 crown etc
Finishing/polishing cabide - both taper and football shape
This should allow you to prep all kinds of preps. I hope this helps
