Just wondering how many BYU grads or undergrads are perusing this board. Do many dental schools consider BYU to be good? Does your undergrad school even matter when applying to dental schools?

I graduated in 2002 with a BS in Accounting. I now live in Rigby, Idaho. I'm taking a few classes at BYU-I so that I can apply to dental school next Fall (2004) for a 2005 enrollment. I'm taking Chem 105 this fall, Chem 106 and Bio 200 in the winter, and OChem 351 and Bio 211 during the summer. I'll take the DAT in August 2004. Anyway, I'm completely excited to get into school. Only wish I had decided this while I was getting my undergrad.

BYU is looked favorably upon as a undergrad. That being said, you are competing with TONS of other BYUers.

I've spoken with several (more than 5) admissions officers at various dental schools who have all told me that they would fill their entire class with students from BYU if they could, but they can't because they'd have several lawsuits filed against them.

At Arizona this year we have 5 or 6 guys from BYU, 3 from BYU-I, and one from BYU-H.

This year BYU has 15 matriculants at UNLV, 12 at Maryland, 9 at Nova, 8 at UOP, 8 at Case Western, 8 at Ohio State... you get the idea (and only one of those schools has an admissions officer that I spoke to about the aforementioned statement).

BYU is the number one pre-dental school in the nation in terms of matriculants.
