Am I doomed?

I'm currently enrolled in this class, and I have a low B. It's within the realm of the possibility I could end up with a C in this class for the semester. Entering the semester I had a 3.9 gpa in an engineering major, but for a litany of reasons it's been a consistent struggle to maintain a decent grade in this course. If I end up with a C in this course, how negatively could it impact my future med school prospects?

Well, it ain't a good thing. My advice is to stop taking classes until you fix whatever issues you had going on that led to the low grade this semester. What's done is done, but you don't want to get more of them.

QofQuimica is probably right. You can do what I did. Whenever I would do poorly in a class, I would drop the class. I was worried that the 10+ "W"s on my record would reflect poorly. However, I ended up applying to med school with a 3.9 GPA, and I spoke with one of the pre-med advisors who just kept saying "No problem" and sure enough, it wasn't. A "W" is probably better than a "C."

Remember what the admissions committees at med schools are likely facing -- thousands and thousands of applications. They need to weed out applications quickly, and the fastest way to weed them out is to draw a GPA line and a MCAT line. Once you get past the line, they're probably less interested in the line, and more interested in you. Hence, just get the grades, anyway you can. Worked for me ...... back in 1997.

I agree w/Q. Drop, regroup.

I got a C+ in Gen Chem I and have an acceptance for next year. It's not a deal breaker. Just don't get too many C's.
