so I'm currently finishing up physics I and chem I and have already applied to pt school. (taking chem II and physics II in the spring). I graduated from undergrad 4 years ago and went back to school in the last year to do pre-reqs for pt, which is why i am just finishing up now.

my current pre-req GPA is a 3.62, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a C in physics I. grades haven't been posted yet, but i needed an 85 on the final and i just don't think it happened. I'm not sure about chem, I will either have an A or a B, depending on what I got on the final.

I am freaking out about this C. I know it looks horrible to have a C on my pre-req transcript. I have already had an interview at one school, which I am supposed to hear back from next week, hoping they accept me before this grade is posted!! i have another interview lined up for Jan 5th and I am going to need to explain this C and my big drop in GPA.

any insight? I know this is not good, but I just need some people's opinions.

ur prereq gpa is pretty competitive. i think u should be fine. if u get an interview, just make sure you are able to explain why you got a C. if you dont get in this cycle, then i would recommend to retake that course. hope this helps and good luck

i have a C in chemistry and ive interviewed at a few places already

You need an 85 to get a B? What score do you need to get a C+? A C+ isn't that bad, considering that it's Physics II. What are your other stats?

If you get rejected, definitely retake it, and take it with another professor and get a tutor. If the rest of your application is solid, then I don't think PT schools will reject you for having one C. It's not optimal, but Physics II is probably the hardest pre-req you have to take.

don't retake, i got a C in physics and am accepted in a program already and waiting to hear back from a couple interviews. its really not a big deal as long as your GPA is fine in general

thanks for all the comments you guys. they are definitely easing my nerves. My school doesnt do +/- grades so it will be either a B or a C. I think my app is strong otherwise. I also have already interviewed at my top choice a few weeks ago, so i am just really hoping they magically accept me before grades are posted haha.

ill let you know what happens. grades should be posted by tuesday. thanks for the advice and good luck to you all 🙂

A "C" in physics isn't going to be as bad as a "C" in Anatomy or Physiology. Lots of people (including me and a classmate who is now a DPT student) got a C in physics. It's a difficult class. Don't beat yourself up! You will be fine 😀

yep definitely go a C in physics. ugh. on the upside I got an A in chem, so my gpa only drops one tenth of a point. thank god.
