We just got a couple of C-Trachs in our hospital and I was wondering what your thoughts are on this thing. I've used it a couple of times, with mixed results. I'm pretty used to doing FOB intubations through an ILA (intubating LMA), so this in theory is the same thing without the bronchoscope. When it works, its great, but twice I couldn't see anything, despite being able to ventilate well.

Anyone?

We bought a few of them and they just sit in the workroom. They're not really useful if you find yourself in a hurry all of a sudden because you have to snap the little screen onto the thing and do a kind of a "white balance" maneuver which takes a little time. The picture is grainy and the tube (at least on our model) obstructs the camera right before it goes into the glottis. It has kind of gone the way of the COPA at our place.
