I came across the CAPIC site and saw that there is an entirely separate application process for many sites in CA - one in which people apply by March 2 and and match on April 6.

Do people try APPIC match first and then go for CAPIC? Or is the CAPIC the norm for CA doctoral students?

Since the APPIC match is Feb 20th....and most clearing house spots are gone within the following week, the timing makes sense.

We've had some discussions about CPA internship placements (in regard to the difference between APA v. APPIC v. Other accreditations), and it generally comes down to what kind of limitations a person has/is willing to accept.

APA: No limitations, as it is the standard

APPIC: Excludes VA placements, some other gov't placements, and more competitive placements (academic hospitals, etc). A handful of states will not allow for licensure.

Other: APPIC limitations + other possible licensure issues outside of CA.
