This semester i dropped calc for a second time. It was dropped early enough to where i did not receive a W for either of them. That class seems to be too difficult for my brain to grasp. I never had a good background in math and even with my determination it still doesnt seem to be clicking. Being a florida resident, non of the med schools in florida require calc yet, but a lot of their websites strongly recommend it. I'm kind of freaking out because i really dont want to take it and risk my gpa. (3.8 overall, 3.6 science) but i dont want to give them a reason to not accept me. I'm already hurting since this is the second time ive gone to 11 credit hours because of dropping calc. If i have a good gpa and solid MCAT will they overlook this? Or should i take a leap of faith and retry calc again. Has anyone here recently gotten in to medical school without calc? any florida residents? I'm super nervous atm 🙁

Have you looked for private (peer) tutoring opportunities at your school? That could be very helpful (and doesn't cost much -or even any- most of the time).

Calculus can be difficult, but you don't have to be a genius to do considerably well. Try your best. You will pass. If you are really afraid about calculus, take it during the summer.

btw, you're most likely going to need at least two semesters of calculus to major in biology/physical sciences.

Well i guess my post/ questions werent direct enough... For one, i never said anything about being a science/physical science major, and if i was i would know my requirements by now.. And also ive done everything in my power to try and do well(tutoring, office hours etc) and i have taken it over a summer and still my math deficiencies are existent. My question is, is it likely that a med school, even though they dont require calculus, would un-consider my application because i did not have calculus on my transcript. The few people ive talked to in person have said they probably wouldnt care, but others have also told me otherwise.
I was also told a statistics that 90% of people of get into med school have taken at least calculus 1. (not sure if that's a valid statistic or not) Also has anyone here gotten into med school without calculus? thanks.

Don't you need Cal 3, linear, and deq for Harvard HST? Chop chop OP, better get to it

it's all about practice Op. you can do it.
