I take my dat in 18 days and I just took a kaplan natrual science test and and the gen chem had 12 kind of long calculations, for people who have recently taken the test how many did you see? hopefully not that many, i got like 7 or 8 which sucks and it they took awhile

I don't remember really getting any long calculations on the science part. If it is long, they just have you set it up (not actually calculate it). They aren't testing you on math (that comes later!). It's not that bad. Just know how to set up the equations.

for the rate law questions, do we have to caclulate it out or are those set up as well?

I don't remember getting a rate law question on my test so I can't really say. I know I had the ideal gas law and some molecular weight stuff. I don't remember having to do any long calculations for the science section.

Although there were some calculations on my DAT, it was very simple, basically one or two step calculations, or just set up an equation. The most annoying one I had was to calculate the rate constant and then find the rate for one of the experiment. It sounds annoying, but honestly the numbers they give you are really easy to work with. Good luck!
