hey guys i just took the dat a couple of days ago, so let me clear this up for you. there is an a calculator option for QR, and only for QR. There is no calculator for the sciences. It's the most basic calculator, like the generic calculator on computers. It's not a scientific calculator. The functions on the calculator are +, -, division, multiplication, plus minus sign, a point sign so you can do calculations involving fractions, a sqrt key, % key and 1/x key. Good luck!

Wow! I had no idea you could now use a calculator on the DAT.... I am retaking in May(I took it last year in March). The only section I did poor in was QR. I knew all of the formulas and I am pretty sure I got all of the questions I worked out correct. Unfortunately, I ran out of time with 12 questions left and had to guess on them all. The hard part about the QR is timing!!! The calc should help a lot for the questions that require long division. I am interested to see if the question difficulty is any different...

is this some sort of joke? since when are they doing this because I took it twice and no calculator was allowed.

Yup, I believe they started using the calculator in the 1st or 2nd week of March. Like Loni said, it's a very basic calculator but it no doubt helps when multiplying and dividing huge numbers. And I took the test a few days ago and I believe the difficulty did not change...definitely glad I took the test after they added the calculator 🙂

Thanks for clarifying this. Was the calculator given along with the whiteboard or could you just pop it up through the "Exhibit" button like you would do so for the periodic table on the chem section?

On the QR section, there is a "calculator" button and if you click it the calculator pops up. However, you can ONLY use the mouse to click the numbers so no keyboard or anything
