Calculus and D.O. School

I am currently enrolled in Calculus solely for the reason I was going to apply to D.O. as well as M.D. schools. I am no longer applying to M.D. schools so calculus will no longer be required. It is not required for my degree program either. My question is if I withdrawal from this course will it affect my already submitted applications to D.O. schools. In other words will dropping this class affect my application status even though D.O. schools don't require it. Thanks!

Generally not a problem not having calculus...just be prepared to answer why there is a 'w' on the transcript. Good fortune in you applications.

Should not be an issue.

They're not going to ask you about one or two W's on your transcript, now if you had about 20 W's that would be a completely different story.🙂

dont you have to turn in your transcript for this Fall/Spring semester some time before you start med school? sorry cos i dont know much abt this

you're spot on. before matriculation you need to provide them with a new transcript. they won't see any other grades after you applied until this time. the goal is of course to keep your acceptance in hand.

as for the OP, why not stay in calculus? it's fun 😀

As a math major, it pains me to say that if you're not a math person, drop the calculus if it isn't required for the schools you want to apply to.

I would have been thrilled with calc questions, more stats, PChem, and complex variable analysis on the MCAT and on boards. And symmetry groups. They were fun.

As an electrical engineering major, I can share your sentiments. I'm glad we can stay anonymous on these boards. Otherwise, I think I would get my a** kicked by saying that.

I'm not going to lie I hated calc that's why I ended up with a C. Now I'm taking physics and this guy makes some insane problems, and he puts some problems you need to know basic calc. So I guess it is good to have to a certain extent, would I want to take calc again? I rather get a buffalo to take a diarehea dump in my ear (avng). Lol
