Cali / TX Programs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Clarifications:

a) Epilepsy Fellowships are still not ACGME accredited. They will be in 3-5 years.
b) Clinical Neurophysiology is the main tool used by Epileptologists for classification, diagnosis, and treatment (i.e.: surgery, proper AED) of intractable spells/epileptic seizures. CNP is an ACGME accredited fellowship for one year.
c) A two year fellowship with 1st year on CNP and the 2nd year on EMU/EEG is often the preferred/respected path for an academic epileptologist.

My personal viewpoint as an Epileptologist with CNP certification (ABPN/ABCN) of CA and TX programs and with over 20 years in the field looking to hire another epileptologist. Keep in mind that for me the names of universities do not matter as much as with whom you trained with.

Check the NAEC certification level of these programs. I would only suggest level IV programs for fellowship. http://www.naec-epilepsy.org/find.htm
