Hey...I was just wondering what everyone is getting paid as interns? I'm just curious because I want to know if my pay is comparable to others. I'm getting paid 15/hr. I just finished my first year in pharm school? Does that sound right for someone of my status? I work at CVS by the way.

You didn't mention where in CA you are, but it seems about right for someone at the end of first year.

Southern Cali, more specifically, the San Fernando Valley. So should i be expecting a bump when i start 2nd year?

$15.50/hr (+$1 pay differential for weekends)
time and half for holidays

What store and year pay were you referring to? Thanks for the feedback.

WOW. Here in the southeast (S. Carolina) you have to be a 4th year to get $15. 1st years all make $10/hr at CVS here.

Since you're in S CA, you might be covered by a union agreement since most chain pharmacists and interns are union. In N CA we are not in a union so raises can occur at any time. However, with a union, your raises are determined more by length of time on the job, not increase in level of responsibility and your managing pharmacist has no control over this.

So...ask yourself - am I in a union? If so....look in the handbook you were given & see the schedule of pay adjustments. If you're not in a union, ask your managing pharmacist when pay adjustments occur. You should expect an increase when your pharmacist is comfortable enough with you to take telephone orders and to initiate clarification questions independently, altho a yearly increase would be appropriate to reflect your increasing responsibilities.

Good luck!

I made $20/hr in WA during my 4th year.

I work for CVS in southern California...just finished my first year so I got a $1 raise so now making $16/hour. We get a $1 raise for each year of pharm school we finish.
