hi everyone! i've only been a reader of sdn so far, but this is worth sharing! two days ago i emailed all the schools i hadn't heard from yet or was on hold at to check my status. here's the reply i got from wake forest:

Your application is complete with us and has been placed in our top interview pool. We will be interviewing until April 19 and do have a few spaces left if you are interested. We are not able to interview all of the candidates in the
top pool each year. Your may respond by e-mail or call us a 336.716.4264. Good luck in the admissions process.

I called yesterday morning and am interviewing april 9! and i don't think i would have heard anything from them if i hadn't taken the initiative to contact them, so if you're in the same boat, CALL.

here's what i heard from other schools:
UF - everyone should be getting a letter within about a week.
USF - no reply yet. i'll try emailing mr. larkin.
Tulane - class is full; wait for May 15 movement.
IU - everyone will get a response by June 1.
and schools i haven't interviewed at but haven't been rejected by yet:
SLU - interviewing until sometime in June.
Mt. Sinai - sending out interview invites until the end of April.

i had a similar result at Jefferson Medical College.

I was thinking of withdrawing, and i was expecting them to tell me i was rejected. I decided to just email and ask about my status. The admissions director told me I had an interview offer, so i sent in my withdrawal letter, muahahahah!

Similar thing happened to me at Jefferson. I got an interview invite at MCP-Hahnemann and so e-mailed Jefferson to see if I was being considered for an interview. They said yes, when would you like to interview (as if they were waiting for me to contact them). A few weeks later I was accepted at my top-choice school so I cancelled both interviews...(this was back in February and the interviews were scheduled for April)

i was expecting a rejection, too - i just wanted to find out and get it over with so i could cross them off my list. i don't have any acceptances yet, though, so i was thrilled to get another interview. don't give up hope!

I think it's ridiculous that these schools are expecting us to call them when it should be the other way around... most of the time, when i call admissions offices, they sound annoyed that i am calling... anyway, i just feel that considering all the effort we put into the application process, the least they can do is fulfill their part by notifying applicants when their status changes...

btw, did the people you guys talked to mention that they were in the process of letting you know??? or were they just waiting for the lucky few to call and were planning to screw the rest???

(on that note, congrats to all who got interviews! i guess taking the initiative is important when faced with imcompetent admin ppl.)

I emailed the admissions office to get my bit of information. The admissions director replied by saying, "I just looked over your file and will offer an interview to you."

At Duke, I never got any notice that I had an interview offer. I only found out by checking the website. The did not email me or send me a letter.

I have no idea if they were going to contact me soon. My invite was kinda mysterious in a "Matrix" sort of way.

I sent an e-mail to Jefferson asking if I would be considered for an interview and giving the dates I would be in Philly. A few minutes after hitting SEND, I got a reply, written in all caps that said "SOMEONE WILL BE CALLING YOU". Just after I finished reading that that sentence the telephone rang. It was Luel, from Jefferson inviting me for an interview. I was expecting him to tell me to duck down below my desk or something...

i just emailed wake forest and got the mysterious interview invite thing...

so, out of the 1000 that they want to interview, is it the first 500 that check their application status that get an interview? pretty ridiculous...i think it should be the school's responsibility to choose interviews...leaving it to chance is sketchy
