Calling all 2007M1's: what are you doing for the next 2 months?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i am working, but not very hard. working out, trying to learn how to cook...maybe. hanging out with the family, friends, and bf. man i am boring. 👎

This summer, I am going to go work at a Christian Camp for kids on Kelleys Island in Ohio... So pretty much, I will be spending the summer by the pool, water skiing, wake boarding, kayaking, canoeing, speed boating, going to Cedar Point, teaching kids about Jesus, sailing, and playing a lot of games! sounds pretty sweet to me... although i wouldnt mind going to europe or something... but camp is pretty sweet too...🙂

I loved Stiff! Someone told me there was a sequel, but I haven't seen it.

The "sequel" is Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife (by Mary Roach). It's a fun book though not as deep-delving as Stiff, in part because she investigates and writes about anecdotes and occurences that have little actual substance when looked at from a skeptical/scientific view (that's the point). Still a good read.

As much as I'd love to actually have a free summer, I'm stuck here starting research (and a class 😱) at my school. At least I'll be settled into the city before the real fun begins.

Working the second best job I've had this year: driving jet skis around a reservoir on "patrol", trumped only by the job I had as a ski instructor this winter. Oh yeah, and trying to find a place to live during school. And getting in as much time in the mountains as possible before all I see are hills for the next four years.

Working as a receptionist at a forklift company (don't ask... I got the job through a temp agency) which means I basically do clerical **** all morning and spend the afternoon reading books I bring in or talking on AIM; working out; watching a lot of bad summer television; sleeping; weekend trips to the shore; planning a vegas vacation for early august; furniture shopping online; any combination of the above

heh im trying to figure out how to freeze time as im having too much fun right now..

Reading as many books as I can - books I've always wanted to read for fun but never had time to in undergrad, also moving in to my apartment and going on a caribbean cruise!

  • READING...things only vaguely medical...and some completely fictional
  • A cruise, care of the folks...graduation present! I knew that MPH would be worth something!
  • Hanging out with my husband, who I'm pretty convinced I won't recognize in 4 years 🙁
  • Loading as many good songs onto my iPod as I can afford...since I'll probably be listening to the same old music for the next ~8 years
  • Scrapbooking...so I can remember life pre-med-school
  • Moving & organizing my life
  • Working out (biking, hiking, maybe hitting the gym)
  • SLEEPING!!! 😴
  • Trying to meet my future classmates as they roll into town
  • Oh yeah...and hanging out with the high schoolers at my church who I'm going to miss once school starts (I'm a youth ministry leader)

Reading lots and lots of books. I'm sure the concept of a novel will be foreign to me by the time I graduate. Moving and visiting family.

Yup I'm boring too!

best summer ever : 4 months long. spending time writing a book (it's on page 100 now), watching movies (rent about 5 a week), looking for a condo in chicago, trip to hawaii in a few months, possible trip to africa, some med school reading ie b/c i have to in order to be able to tutor bio, and finally tutoring 9 hrs/wk for 2 months w/ ridiculous benefits/reimbursement. hey i just realized most of you only have 2 months of summer, bummer.

oh and for the person starting on tuesday, have fun at FSU! one of my good friends is going there and i'm sure you'll love her.

Haha, my book is on page 2 😛 and I started it back in December before writers block hit (although the fact that I never continued it even after figuring it out was just because I'm lazy).

I'm spending the summer learning to skateboard in some sort of bizarre quarter-life crisis, exercising at the gym to finish losing the weight I need to get off, building my first computer build since 2002 (back when I was a much bigger computer geek), possibility learning to ride motorcycles, figuring out housing for the fall, and doing whatever last minute traveling I decide I should do.

I'm soaking up FL (Gainesville) before I head out to the midwest. Most of my classmates have made their exit, so I'm working A LOT to stay occupied. I picked up acoustic guitar not too long ago..hoping to keep that going as a reliable hobby through school.

I'll be going to Disney World for a week and then Hawaii for 10 days 😀...in between those trips, I'm working and spending as much time as possible with my family, friends, and boyfriend.

taking anatomy at my med school...talk about an early start

Nigeria. to visit family friends, etc. It's not through any program. My dad is giving some medical lectures there (he goes about 4 times a year) and its time to go again. The market in chicago is depressing, everywhere i find something relatively reasonable someone tells me that the area is unsafe and not to live there. so i've almost given up....i think i'm gonna live in an apartment where a lot of the med students live for my first year at least.

I'm going to Nigeria as well in July! Such a wonderful place!:luck:

Relaxing and clearing my mind, for one thing! As well as trying to spend a lot of quality time with friends, have fun, etc 🙂 And working some... at a very slacker-ish job: lifeguarding. I figure taking a "break" before heading in would be a good way to be as fresh as possible before starting!

😱 You are a lifeguard?

Did you see this post?

Seriously, it's avatar time, sweetness. I'll crop you out and leave the abs so know one will know that it is you. 😀

I'll be working until June 29th. When I'm not making preparations to move to the opposite coast 🙁, I plan on working out and hating men. Actually, I have an upcoming sojourn to San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay this weekend YAY!

I'm going to Nigeria as well in July! Such a wonderful place!:luck:

I am jealous of you guys. I wish you guys safe journey.

P.s.Can you guys take me along as part of your luggage?

Hmm...let's see. Taking a trip to Canada and Hawaii, doing some leisurely reading, catching up on my favorite tv shows, getting drunk, working out, and taking care of miscellaneous things for med school.
😀

I'm going to the Virgin Islands 👍
I'm going to study anatomy down there if you know what I mean....😀

Hey, I'm going to the Virgin Islands, too! I leave for Miami tonight and arrive on St. Croix on Monday! 🙂

so many of us going to hawaii. rock on! i never knew it was 13 hours to get there before i signed on but who cares. it'll be fun bumming around and hanging out with my friend and her new john a burns med school friends. it's weird but now that i don't start med school til mid/late sept i have this thing for visiting my friends when they start earlier to live vicariously through them and their friends.

Japan and hong kong next week for 2 weeks, then destin for a week. A week in canada and weekends in nyc and chi-town are definite possibilities too. I love life right now. 😍👍

This is the perfect time to "live it up." I definitely won't regret it when I have to start med school. Just the thought makes me value my free time more.

I'm still working until mid of July, then fly the East Coast for a two-week vacation. Getting vaccines, bloodwork, and other paperwork done. Getting rid of old books. I try to do something every weekend during the time that I work. Try to do some readings and movie watchings 🙂.

i am going to cabo to fish, drink, surf, drink, get tan, and drink. then i might go to vegas and take one more run at those bloody crap tables.......and drink.
