Hi Everyone,
I am very blessed at the acceptances I have received. My advisor helped me develop a matrix to decide what school to attend. PLEASE LOOK AT ATTACHMENT! I would multiply the number that I assigned to each category of characters to the number that I assigned for each school. I would then add all the numbers up for each school, and the school that has the highest number wins!

But I need your help in filling the blanks. How are the people in Lewisburg, WV. Are they culturally open minded and accepting?

MSUCOM has summer classes which is GREAT for spreading out the classes. Unfortunately, the spread it out the summer of your second year when you are trying to pass the 2nd most important test of your life! (I believe MCAT was the most important). TUNCOM is slightly better with the schedule. But when does WVSOM end during the second year, and when is the latest you can take the Comlex 1? In other words, what school gives us a longer period to study for Comlex I before the 3rd year? For all three schools, what school is the best at making the test look like the boards?

Now I know that MSUCOM is pretty supportive because if you fail your classes, it has the extended program so that you can do it in 5 years. How many times can you fail the Comlex before they kick you out? How about TUNCOM? I know that WVSOM if you fail it 3 times they will probably kick you out and definitely kick you out if you failed it 4 times. TUNCOM and MSUCOM has a tutoring program. WVSOM administrators seem nice but I heard that a girl got kicked out after failing two classes and failing her first year. MSUCOM- I heard someone got to repeat twice before being let go. What school is the most easy going and LAID BACK?

AND how many hours of OMM do we get to pratice for each school per week?

Las Vegas housing I believe is pretty cheap right now. Trying to find a house in Lewisburg might be hard. For East Lansing, the better the area, the higher the price houses are. Those of you living around the area know more about it better than i do.

Thank you for your help! I hope you can help me fill a couple of more blanks! Of course I will try my best and work hard anywhere and have no intentions of failing.

P.S. I am out of state for all schools. Also, sorry about the poll thing being public, I wish I can change it somehow?

1) There is a pretty good chance that it won't be long before you realize the MCAT was in no way the most important exam of your life. But anyway....!

2) MSUCOM has a lot of academic support. I don't know if it is more or less than your other options, but this seems to be one of their real strengths, should you need it. You'll have to draw on your own visits to decide which place you felt was more easy going, I think. The class is very large, which has its pros and cons, of course.

3) You can find a thousand places to live in & around East Lansing. Rental or for buying. Places stay on the market for years right now - it would be easy to buy, and very difficult to sell. However, you're likely to be shipping off (re-locating) to another campus for clinical rotations, and then be stuck with it - so think twice about buying right now. Also, if you like to see the sun or even just a blue sky, East Lansing is not going to be a happy place for you most of the year. I came from New England, (not exactly known for lots of sun) and never knew how depressing day after day of grey can be!

4) The OOS costs at MSU are probably the highest you would pay, and you do not get to change to in state status at any point. (Although you could defer a year, live & work in Michigan, and then be in state. But once you start as out of state, you stay out of state here.)

Finally, from this side of the process it is much easier to say just choose the place you'll be most comfortable (visit again, if you need to). You will do the best on the boards if you are are in an environment you are comfortable in - not because of the school itself. If you think it will be the same, choose the cheapest place overall.

I would agree that the main disadvantage with MSUCOM is that the out of state tuition is extremely expensive. Other than that, though, I think it was a great place to attend. I felt that the teaching there was a solid foundation for the boards. If you are nervous about not having enough time during the summer to study for Step 1/Level 1, just make sure you start studying for the boards earlier than you might otherwise have done.
