I've read alot of posts about people who seem to be borderline applicants based on their "do i have a chance" postings. Alot of people suggest calling optometry schools to ask if they're competitive or what they are looking for or is so and so good enough. My question is when you call an admissions office for an opt school, do they just pick up the phone and say hello, and you say ur pre opt and start rattling off every class you ever took, your grades, your oat scores, extra currics, etc? Im just curious how it all plays out?

A lot of schools offer counseling sessions (and a tour of their school sometimes too). For example, I set an appointment to see ICO and I was able to meet with a counselor and they looked at my transcript and OAT scores and whatnot and were able to give me a lot of the answers I was looking for in terms of my chances, the application process, what they are looking for, etc. I doubt someone will be available right when you call them whose going to have the time to listen to you rattle on and on about all your grades and activities. They will most likely ask you to schedule a counseling appointment.

I guess that makes sense, during one of these counseling sessions can you really just hand them your transcript, resume (for your extra currics), personal statement, and oat scores if need be, i didn't take the oat yet, but from other posts can you get an acceptance without taking your oats, i hard you can get an interview and a conditional acceptance, is this correct
