can a doc just claim suboxone is for pain to avoid needing an X number?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
had a pill mill doc escribe us suboxone, but when I checked he doesnt have an x number.
I usually try to be creative in these situations to trick someone.

I.e. Play the "cool friend" routine.

"Heeeyyyyy y'all, it's totally no big deal if it is, but just wanted to check."

Or

"Insurance will only let this go through if it's for opioid dependency, so we wanted to put that but have to check.
that's what it is, right?"

Or

"I don't have time for this bull****.
Send them to another pharmacy or refer to pain mgmt"

Legally, yes. However, is it annotated on the rx? If you don't feel comfortable than don't fill it.

Legally, it can be done (can't recall the exact hour/day supply limitation). Have never seen this done in practice; more commonly MD will just Rx a few days worth of Oxycodone/APAP or Tramadol instead (always have to call on this, check PMP, & document ok with MD - PIA) when Hx of Suboxone on profile
