Hello everyone, I'm new here and I needed to ask this so bad because I really can't sleep nowadays because of this concern.

I’m currently in my gap year applying to schools and had been working as an assistant here. I quit last week without notice after working for about six months. I was originally supposed to stay until around June or July when school starts but I left early for personal reasons. The ending wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either. I just feel a bit guilty for leaving sooner than planned.

They also know which schools I applied to and interviewed at since they were curious and asked me about it before. I didn’t ask doctors for a letter of recommendation since I already had one from another place. All I did was list the job description and hours on my application.

I have interviewed quite few schools but not As yet Maybe I’m just overthinking, but is there any chance my former boss could contact admissions by emailing or calling to say something bad or try to sabotage me, saying like "lacking work ethic/responsibility" or "lack of committment" etc..? Would admissions care and attach to my file ?

Tell us more about the circumstances surrounding your exit. It's fine, no judgment, we all know the clinic environment and doctors in particular can be wildly unreasonable. Most people do not get a job to leave after 6 months.

Schools don't generally accept unsolicited letters about candidates, so it is not likely to affect this application cycle.

For future jobs, though, learn a more professional way to exit your employment. When you started there they probably gave you some information about giving 2-weeks notice if you were going to leave. Know this for future jobs. Sometimes when you give your 2 week notice to a job, they will tell you "you don't have to work the next 2 weeks, you can just finish out the day." (Maybe in less kindly terms than that 😵)
Leaving without notice could mean a lot of things - leaving in a huff, feeling you couldn't take one more critical remark from coworkers, knowing you had messed up and not wanting to take the fallout or ??
I don't think you should post the details on a public message board if you are trying not to be identified, but if you are still losing sleep over it, you have more thinking to do about how you will manage future job situations before they bring you to the point of walking out.

That doctor has better things to do than go after you.

If this doctor called me (for example) and told me a story like this, I’d just assume they were crazy and toxic and move on. I wouldn’t hold it against you.

Literally this. If someone reached out, unsolicited, to complain about how a candidate left their job I would respond with "well I can understand why they left."

Thank you I appreciate your advice. I just felt personally so awkward I can't really go for job for 2weeks after telling them I quit. But yes this is the stuff I def should work on it. Thank you

Thank you for everyone's advice. I really appreciate it!!

No, but be professional about your exit. You haven't told us why you left abruptly. Tell me about a time when you made an unprofessional decision... ???
