Can a professor update or add to an LoR after it's submitted?

For example, would the following work to reserve one's place in line?: Having a professor write a super basic letter (with minimal effort) by June 1 and submit it (so AMCAS shows as being complete). AND THEN, around July 1 when classes are over, submit a polished LoR to either replace or add to the original.

Do you think this plan would work? (Not "should" it work, "would" it work?) Thanks.

Do you think your professors have nothing better to do than submit multiple letters at your whim? Just ask for a letter when you're ready for the letter to be written.

You don't need LORs to get verified. Most schools don't require you to have your LORs until you submit your secondary, at which point you would be considered complete and ready to be considered for interview.

AMCAS has nothing to do with being "complete." You are "complete" at individual schools when you have your primary + secondary + MCAT + LORs all in.

In response to your question: no, do not do that. Just have your person submit the letter when it's ready. You can't replace an LOR, so both LORs would show up to schools, and that would definitely look odd/suspicious.
