Which should be used on the NAPLEX if they don't clarify in the question?
My RxPrep book says to go by BMI: actual BW if underweight (BMI<18.5), IBW if normal (18.5-24.9), and adjusted BW if overweight (>/= 25)
But on the SDN 120 calc questions, #118, the patient's BMI=27 and IBW is used (while RxPrep would advise adjusted BW be used)
I called NABP to ask about this and they said they aren't allowed to answer the question specifically but that the exam questions would be clear about what to use. However, I've read multiple posts on SDN where people say their CrCl questions didn't say which weight to use.
From what I've read, some people say to just use IBW unless otherwise specified?
Any help is appreciated - it would be a shame to lose points for something arbitrary like this. Thanks!
