Can DO's and IMG's Sign out of match?

I know this has been answered on another thread but it is from 2001/02. Anyone have current Data? Also what do you do if you have a bona fide contract in hand? Do you withdraw completely from ERAS? Do you just not submit a ROL in Feb? Help me Obi-wan your my only hope!

Yes. IMG's, DO's, and US allopathic grads from previous years can all sign outside the match. Once you have a contract in hand, you simply withdraw from the match (which is the NRMP, not ERAS). In ERAS, you can withdraw from programs as a courtesy, although it really doesn;t matter -- if I rank you, it doesn;t change the outcome of the match.

Obi wan cannot help you here. The dark side of the force is the pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural, but are very helpful in residency.
