Let's say I finish school in the US and do my DO residency in the US as well, but afterwards decide to move back home to Canada, would I be able to practice medicine in Canada as a DO? Would I need to redo my residency?

I know of a single DO in the entire province of Ontario that practices here. and he is a citizen of the country. Canada is in a tight spot right now because they don't even have enough residency slots for their own graduates. It doesn't get easier once you're an attending either -- neurosurgeons and highly specialized practitioners cannot find jobs in areas you'd want to live in, despite demand being high. It's one of the drawbacks of it's highly centralized healthcare system.

edit: just one source of many, http://news.nationalpost.com/health...ncies-and-full-time-positions?__lsa=c546-4ae7

I wouldn't say "cant find jobs". I find this article extremely misleading as there is a high demand for primary care doctors in Canada. Simply put, there is no residencies available for Irish, Caribbean graduates in Canada OR the US. I have a hard time believing there is not something in the background with this guy.

Yup thats why I stated specializations specifically. I'd encourage anyone to research more about it. I know in Toronto many, many physicians open up shop in NY because they don't want to wait around without a job.
