just curious if a GP can get hospital privileges or somehow be affiliated with a hospital? how do they get to be in the hospital directories? or is it a no go?

Thanks.

If by GP you mean a doc who is not boarded in anything (and based on your other thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=860336 I'd guess you are) then it depends on the hospital. Some will, some won't but as you mentioned in your other post, it tends to be rural/underserved hospitals that allow non-boarded docs.

As DocB said, only in the most rural/underserved areas could a GP probably obtain privileges. I'm in the middle of applying for privileges now, and I had to answer questions on whether I'm board certified. They kind of expect you to have board certification eventually.
